Aloha Tourists is a small personal blog. This page explains what information the site collects when you visit, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: we collect very little, we never sell it, and you can ask us to delete anything we have.
What we collect
- Your email address, if you sign up for updates. The "Follow along" form is run by MailerLite, our email provider. We use your address only to send new entries and occasional updates. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops all emails.
- How the site is used. We use Google Analytics to see which pages people read and roughly where visitors come from (country or city level), so we know what's worth writing more of. Google Analytics uses cookies to do this. It doesn't tell us who you are.
- Searches on the News & Weather page. When you search for news, your search words pass through a small service we run on Cloudflare to fetch results. We don't keep a record of your searches.
- Your location, only if you allow it. The "near me" buttons ask your browser for permission first. If you say yes, your approximate location is sent to BigDataCloud (to look up your city name) and Open-Meteo (to get the weather). We don't store it.
- Basic server logs. Like almost every website, our host (Hostinger) automatically records technical details such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and to keep the site running.
Cookies
Cookies are small files your browser stores. This site uses them for Google Analytics and for the MailerLite sign-up form. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.
Shop and other sites
Our stickers are sold on Etsy. When you buy something, Etsy handles your order, payment and shipping details under its own privacy policy; we only see what Etsy shares with sellers to fill the order. Links to YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest and other sites are covered by those sites' own policies.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your personal information.
- We don't share it with anyone except the services listed above, which help run the site.
- This site isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we have about you (in practice, usually just an email address) by writing to aloha@aloha-tourists.com. We'll reply within 30 days. To stop Google Analytics from tracking you on any site, you can use Google's opt-out browser add-on.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
